THYTRONIC is a qualified TERNA supplier for the FTTE1 - SAS segment, digital automation and control systems for HV electrical substations, and over the years has been awarded framework contracts for the implementation of several control and monitoring systems for HV electrical substations.

SAS2021

It is the most advanced automation and control system for HV substations with a distributed architecture, consisting of a central system (station computer) in redundant configuration and peripheral control and protection cabinets connected to each other by optical fiber.

The Thytronic SAS2021 solution is based on the iControl SCADA platform and on iBU devices in the BCU and BMU versions.
Thytronic provides a complete solution including system design, configuration, full factory functional testing, installation and system commissioning.

SAS36-KV

To facilitate connections to the high-voltage transmission network, a new standard based on the 36kV voltage level has been introduced.
Thytronic is one of the TERNA suppliers implementing the special automation and control system for new 36 kV stations (SAS-36kV), inspired by the SAS2021 solution and still based on the iControl SCADA platform and iBU devices in the BCU and BMU versions.
Thytronic provides a complete solution including system design, configuration, full factory functional testing, installation and system commissioning.

Solutions for ELECTROMECHANICAL SUBSTATIONS

Electromechanical stations built toward the end of the 1990s (DCO-90) and around the 2000s (DPT-96) are still very reliable. The addition of monitoring and automation solutions extends the useful life of these systems, guaranteeing services (diagnostics, alarm remotization, continuous monitoring, controllability) very close to those of a SAS2021 digital system, without requiring complete replacement.
Thytronic has developed two different systems for revamping electromechanical stations.

DIGIS

The DIGIS system consists of a central station computer in redundant configuration (based on the Thytronic iControl SCADA application) and peripheral digital devices for alarm management and monitoring of electrical network parameters.
These devices, developed by Thytronic and derived from the iBU family, replace several electromechanical drawers in each protection and control cabinet, digitizing the electrical substations.
The development of plug & play devices with the same connector interfaces as existing systems was particularly challenging, enabling very fast replacement with minimal service interruptions.
Thytronic provides a complete solution covering all phases of factory functional testing, installation and commissioning of digital devices on existing panels, guaranteeing perfect interoperability with the field solution.

ASAT3-SAS

In the 1980s, CESI developed an innovative automation system (ASAT) for electrical substations which, by sending simplified commands, enabled automatic control of the substations, autonomously managing operations such as line configuration changes, transformer paralleling and automatic closing, significantly simplifying the activities of Terna control center operators.
These systems, still in service in many cases, can no longer be updated with new functions.
The latest ASAT3-SAS generation is derived from the SAS2021 architecture and is based on a station computer in redundant configuration (with the Thytronic iControl SCADA application) and peripheral cabinets equipped with Thytronic iBU devices.
Careful panel engineering made it possible to create a solution that replaces the previous ASAT system quickly, using existing electrical connections.
