Medium Voltage Secondary Protection System SME71R (RGDAT INDOOR)
The SME71R fault detection system is designed in compliance with the ENEL GSTP001 specification and is installed in indoor applications to provide local and remote signaling of short circuits and earth faults that may occur in medium voltage distribution networks. The SME71R quickly locates the faulted line section, thereby reducing power outages.
Features of the Medium Voltage Secondary Protection Device SME71R (RGDAT INDOOR)
The SME71R devices are installed in remotely controlled secondary stations to provide local and remote signaling of short circuit and earth faults that may occur in medium voltage distribution networks. These devices quickly identify the line section affected by faults, thus reducing power outages.
The SME71 INDOOR family of devices can operate with:
► Insulated neutral;
► Grounded neutral through an inductor with a parallel resistor;
► Grounded neutral through a resistor;
► Directly grounded neutral.
The SME71 INDOOR family detects faults between faults and earth faults in both isolated and compensated neutral networks without needing to change settings between different configurations and independently of the power feed direction. Accurate fault direction detection occurs even with intermittent faults. The SME71 INDOOR family monitors the voltage of the three phases of the medium voltage line and signals whether it is ON or OFF. A current converter with a 4...20 mA output is also available to send the phase current measurement to the remote control terminal.
