The XVS protection system is designed for medium‑voltage applications, combining advanced measurement, protection and control functions in a single device for networks and active users connected to the distribution grid. By using Rogowski and V‑Sensor transducers, XVS enables accurate monitoring of currents and voltages, ensuring selective tripping and high service continuity of the installation.
In particular, the system can be used as an interface protection for MV active users, in compliance with Annex O and T of the CEI 0‑16 standard, ensuring safe disconnection from the public grid in case of faults, voltage or frequency anomalies and out‑of‑limit operating conditions. This prevents active users from feeding network faults or remaining in parallel with the utility under unacceptable conditions, thus enhancing system safety and the quality of the energy injected into the grid.
XVS integrates advanced communication interfaces (Ethernet and RS485) with standard industrial protocols, event and disturbance recording in COMTRADE format, built‑in cybersecurity features and a flexible architecture of physical and virtual I/Os that can be configured via software to fit different plant layouts.
Main features:
- Measurement, protection and control device for MV active users, suitable as interface protection in compliance with CEI 0‑16 (Annex O and T).
- Inputs for Rogowski and V‑Sensor transducers via RJ45 connectors, enabling accurate phase current and voltage measurement.
- Advanced recording capabilities with Sequence of Events Recording (SER) and digital fault recorder (COMTRADE oscillography, RMS trends and digital states) stored in non‑volatile memory.
- Extensive I/O capability: configurable digital inputs and output relays, plus up to 32 virtual inputs and 32 virtual outputs defined via ThyVisor software over Ethernet.
- Advanced communication: 100BaseT Ethernet and RS485 interfaces with Modbus, IEC 60870‑5‑103, DNP3, TCP/IP and IEC 61850 protocols, including redundant dual Ethernet ports (TX/FX) with RSTP or HSR‑PRP support.
- Time synchronization via SNTP and IEC 1588 for consistent timestamps and accurate event analysis.
- Continuous self‑diagnostics on hardware and software, with alarms signalled through display, optional LEDs, dedicated relays and communication channels.
- Integrated cybersecurity: secured communications with SSH, user authentication, role‑based access control (RBAC) and protected log storage via Syslog.
- Flush‑mount or rack installation, wide auxiliary supply voltage range and rugged electrical and environmental performance according to major IEC/EN protection relay standards.
