Company overview
A leading industrial company operating in the manufacturing sector, characterized by energy-intensive production processes and high continuity-of-service requirements, has launched a major expansion program to support the increase in its production capacity.
Project context
As part of the plant development plan, a new production area was built, requiring a significant increase in available electrical power and a structural upgrade of the internal medium-voltage distribution network.
In the initial phase, Thytronic was involved in the engineering study and preliminary coordination of the protection system. Subsequently, in the execution phase, the protection system design was developed, including the supply and commissioning of the X-MORE platform relays. Thytronic also designed and configured the supervision and control SCADA system on its proprietary i.Control platform.
Why Thytronic
Thytronic is a well-established reference in the Italian market for protection and automation solutions in Medium and High Voltage. Thanks to its engineering know-how and its ability to integrate SCADA systems on a proprietary platform with protection systems, it is able to support end-to-end projects for industries, DSOs, and TSOs.
The company was selected for its ability to provide an integrated service including a complete protection engineering study, covering short-circuit current calculations, CT/VT, IED schemes, and protection coordination, as well as the supply of the full X-MORE multifunction IED protection system and SCADA automation system.
The choice was driven by three key elements: a single point of contact for protection and automation, full integration between the supplied solutions, and experience in developing selectivity studies to ensure accurate analyses and maximum plant reliability.
Outcome
Thytronic coordinated a complex, multi-phase project involving multiple stakeholders, including designers, EPC contractors, and panel builders, while managing integration requests and revisions to the initial design.
The turnkey solution, integrating advanced protection and automation systems, enabled the customer to start up the new production line with a safe, reliable, and continuously monitored electrical infrastructure.
