Capacitor Banks Protection Relay XMR-C
The XMR-C relay is designed for the protection, measurement, and supervision of capacitor banks and harmonic filters. Capacitor bank filters consist of capacitor batteries and air-core inductors connected in series, with the function of absorbing harmonic currents generated by loads and power electronic devices.
- Possible configurations for capacitor banks are:
- Single with star grounded or ungrounded
- Double with star grounded or ungrounded
- Delta
- H configuration
The capacitor banks may be equipped with internally externally fused or unfused capacitor units.
A suitable compensation method is provided by the protection relay to compensate the inherent unbalance neutral current, while protections 37, 49, 59H, and 50(rms)/51(rms) are based on the RMS measurement of the three phase currents ( fundamental and harmonics up to the 50th).
- The measuring circuits present are:
- Three phase currents and one neutral imbalance current input, with nominal current selectable at 1A or 5A via software programming.
Three phase voltages, with nominal voltage programmable in the range 50...130V (UR=100V) and one residual voltage input with nominal voltage programmable in the range 50...130V (UER=100V).
In addition to protection functions, the device offers breaker failure (BF) functions, CT supervision (74CT), VT supervision (74VT), trip circuit monitoring (74TCS), and programmable logic control (PLC).
Calibration, programming, and reading of measurements and recordings can be performed via a PC with ThyVisor software through the front or rear Ethernet communication bus. All operations can also be executed via the front keyboard (MMI).
