AUTOMATION ENGINEER

POSITION PURPOSE

The candidate will be part of an engineering team and, starting from the analysis of customer functional and technical requirements, will define the project architecture, carry out system development and configuration, and oversee factory testing (FAT) and on-site testing (SAT).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop PLC automation logic using Codesys / IEC 61131 language
Develop SCADA applications and HMI interfaces: database configuration, graphic pages, alarms
Configure LAN networks with industrial switches, especially setting up VLANs in radial and ring topologies
Use industry-specific protocols for the energy/utilities sector: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-104, Modbus
Manage project documentation such as functional specifications, user documentation, instructions, and procedures

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Ability to read electrical diagrams, especially those related to relay logic
Basic knowledge of PLC/Codesys IEC 61131 programming
Familiarity with programming languages (preferably scripting: VBS, JavaScript, LUA)
Good command of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering or related disciplines (Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics) and/or Higher Technical Diploma in Automation and Mechatronics
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Willingness to learn continuously
Good communication skills
Time management skills to handle projects and meet deadlines
Willingness to travel to customer sites (mainly in Italy) and to group companies (Milan and Barcelona)
